Pam McAlwee started a cafe in 1985. She recognized the dire need for dog and cat rescue at a time when homeless pets were being killed daily. She began rescuing dogs in 1990. Her passion for saving animals led to the incorporation, and 501c(3) organization of the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation in 2001. She remains involved in the rescue that has saved over 45,000 lives over 22 years.
